आपल्या माळशिरस मतदारसंघातील मोटेवाडी येथील पै.अक्षय पालवे या पैलवानाला पंढरपूर तालुक्यात कुस्ती करताना मानेला गंभीर इजा झाली होती. आई-बाबा आणि दोन भाऊ असं कुटुंब असलेला अक्षय अगदी सामान्य घरातला आहे. आर्थिक परिस्थिती तशी बेताचीच. त्यात एवढी मोठी दुखापत झाल्यानंतर डॉक्टरकडे धावपळ करावी लागली. डॉक्टरांनी सांगितलं की त्याच्या मानेवर महागडी शस्त्रक्रिया करावी लागेल. हे ऐकताच पालवे कुटुंब हादरलं.
आजपर्यंत मला जमलं तसं मी मतदारसंघातील गरीब कुटुंबातील नागरिकांना आरोग्य सेवेच्या माध्यमातुन मदत करतो. हीच काय ती मिळवलेली पुण्याई आणि जनतेचा विश्वास.
त्याच विश्वासाने पै. अक्षयचे वस्ताद महादेव ठवरे यांनी मला संपर्क केला. मी लगेच पुण्यातील दिनानाथ मंगेशकर रुग्णालयात माझ्या आरोग्यसेवकाला पाठवून शस्त्रक्रियाची व्यवस्था करण्याची सूचना केली.
पै. अक्षयच्या मानेची महागडी शस्त्रक्रिया करण्याची व्यवस्था केली. देवाच्या कृपेने वेळेत शस्त्रक्रिया करणारे डॉक्टरही भेटले आणि शस्त्रक्रिया यशस्वी झाली. काही महिने आराम केल्यानंतर अक्षय पुन्हा एकदा दंड ठोकुन मैदानात उतरणार आहे, याचा आनंद.
