पुणे जिल्ह्यातील फुलगाव इथं महाराष्ट्र केसरी कुस्ती स्पर्धा सुरु होती. या स्पर्धेतील अखेरची लढत सिंकदर शेख आणि शिवराज राक्षे यांच्यात झाली. यामध्ये सिंकदर शेखने मैदाम मारले. या स्पर्धेत 36 जिल्हा आणि 6 महानगरपालिका असे 42 संघ भिडले. या स्पर्धेत 36 जिल्हा आणि 6 महानगरपालिका असे एकूण 42 संघ सहभागी झाले होते. एका कुस्ती संघात गादी विभागातील 10 आणि माती विभागातील 10 असे एकूण 20 कुस्तीगीर 2 कुस्ती मार्गदर्शक आणि 1 संघ व्यवस्थापक असे एकूण 23 जणांचा सहभाग होता. साधारण या कुस्ती स्पर्धेत 840 कुस्तीगीर 84 कुस्ती मार्गदर्शक आणि 42 व्यवस्थापक, 80 पंच आणि 50 पदाधिकारी असे एकूण 1100 जणांचा सहभाग होता.
अवघ्या साडे पाच सेकंदात 66 व्या महाराष्ट्र केसरीचा किताब पटकावला…
कुस्तीच्या पंढरीत गंगावेस तालमीत मेहनत घेणाऱ्या सिंकदर शेखने अवघ्या साडे पाच सेकंदात 66 व्या महाराष्ट्र केसरीचा किताब पटकावला. अंतिम फेरीच्या लढतीत सिकंदरने प्रतिस्पर्धी शिवराज राक्षेला 22 सेकंदाला झोळी डावावर चितपट केले. अंतिम फेरीच्या लढतीत सिकंदरचे पारडे निश्चित जड होते. पण, शिवराज त्याला आव्हान देईल अशी अपेक्षा होती. मात्र, वेगवान आणि आक्रमक कुस्ती खेळणाऱ्या सिकंदरपुढे शिवराजचा निभाव लागला नाही. लढतीला सुरुवात झाल्यावर अवघ्या काही सेकंदात सिकंदरने झोळी डाव घेत शिवराजला उचलून खाली घेतले आणि त्याच स्थितीत शिवराजला चितपट करून विजेतेपदाचा मान मिळविला.
