भाजपमध्ये कार्यकर्ता ते भाजपा किसान मोर्चाचे जिल्हाध्यक्ष, असा खडतर प्रवास राजकारणात केलेला आहे. माळशिरस तालुक्याच्या पश्चिम भागात शेतकऱ्यांचे जीवनमान उंचावणारा निरा देवधर कॅनलचा प्रश्न मिटावा यासाठी बाळासाहेब सरगर व वंचित असणाऱ्या गावातील शेतकऱ्यांना एकत्र घेऊन निरा देवधर संघर्ष समितीची स्थापना करून पाण्याचा संघर्ष पेटवत ठेवलेला आहे. बाळासाहेब सरगर यांनी सोलापूर जिल्ह्यामध्ये काम करीत असताना तत्कालीन पालकमंत्री विजयकुमार देशमुख यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली काम केलेले आहे. भारतीय जनता पक्षामध्ये अनेक चढ उतार आले तरीसुद्धा बाळासाहेब सरगर भाजप पक्षाशी एकनिष्ठ व प्रामाणिक राहिले. त्यामुळेच बाळासाहेब सरगर माळशिरस तालुक्यात व सोलापूर जिल्ह्यात भाजपचे एकनिष्ठ कार्यकर्ते म्हणून ओळखले जातात.
