कायदा सुधारण्याचा प्रस्ताव केंद्राकडे पाठवण्याचे मुख्यमंत्र्यांचे निर्देश

वाहन चालकांच्या निष्काळजीपणामुळे प्रवाशांना जीव गमवावा लागू नये, यासाठी विनापरवाना तसेच मद्यसेवन करून बेदरकारपणे वाहन चालवणाऱ्या चालकांविरुद्ध अजामीनपात्र गुन्हा दाखल झाला पाहिजे. यासंदर्भात हिमाचल प्रदेशच्या धर्तीवर कायद्यात सुधारणा करण्याचा प्रस्ताव केंद्र शासनाला पाठवण्याचे निर्देश मुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे यांनी सोमवारी दिले.
बेदरकारपणे तसेच मद्यसेवन करून निष्काळजीपणे वाहन चालवल्यामुळे अपघात आणि त्यामुळे निष्पाप प्रवाशांचा मृत्यू यांच्या प्रमाणात वाढ झाली आहे. २०२१ मध्ये राज्यात अति वेगाने वाहन चालवल्यामुळे झालेल्या अपघातांची संख्या २० हजार ८६० आहे तर त्यात ९८२९ जणांचा मृत्यू झाला आहे. या संदर्भात शिंदे यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली सोमवारी सह्याद्री अतिथीगृह येथे आढावा बैठक घेण्यात आली. यावेळी पोलीस महासंचालक रजनीश सेठ, अपर पोलीस महासंचालक (वाहतूक) रवींद्र सिंगल, परिवहन आयुक्त विवेक भिमानवार आदी उपस्थित होते.
सार्वजनिक वाहतूक सेवा देणाऱ्या वाहनांवरील वाहन चालकांच्या निष्काळजीपणामुळे होणारे अपघात आणि त्यात प्रवाशांचा होणारा मृत्यू यासाठी वाहन चालकांविरुद्ध कडक कारवाई होणे अपेक्षित आहे. त्यासाठी या संदर्भातील कायद्यात सुधारणा करावी. विनापरवाना वाहन चालवणारे तसेच मद्यपी वाहन चालकांना त्याच्या कक्षेत आणावे, असे मुख्यमंत्र्यांनी यावेळी सांगितले. यावेळी मुख्यमंत्र्यांनी मुंबई-पुणे द्रुतगती महामार्ग, समृद्धी महामार्ग यावरील अपघात रोखण्यासाठी सुरू असलेल्या उपाययोजनांची माहिती घेतली. मुंबई-पुणे महामार्गावर असलेल्यांनी उतारावरील ठिकाणी अपघात टाळण्यासाठी सूचनाफलकांसोबतच रम्ब्लर बसवणे यासारख्या उपाययोजना तातडीने हाती घेण्याची निर्देश शिंदे यांनी दिले आहेत.
